Internal Musings from WeHo on #ResortPass

Today was not a pen to paper day at the beach, for me, it was more a laptop poolside kind of day. I ventured to the Montrose West Hollywood to experience what I just learned about from a friend – Resort Pass. With a few clicks I was shown the properties near me (and you can search many areas and dates, but I was looking for an #awayday a.s.a.p.) and I found a cute property that for a friendly price secured rooftop pool access with dining and drink options if desired. YES PLEASE.

X, my oldest son, had just been dropped off at high school by yours truly and the other two kids and my husband were at home doing their respective ‘things’ – for the kids since they had the day off that meant they were sleeping in and for my husband, that involved working from the corner of our living room like he’s been doing the last 18 months. I mean, why not choose today to have a couple hours away? I easily found parking in the neighborhood without restrictions, which for those of you LA locals insert doing the internal happy dance of “Holy !!! - I found a good spot!!” – and it wasn’t too far off Sunset.

I grabbed my cute hat, my poolside handbag that was doubling as a laptop concealer and I easily checked in to the front desk and received access instructions. A quick stop at the lobby snack area for a bottle of Evian for refreshment and I was ready to head up to the rooftop.

(Side bar: Is this who I am now? “Yes” …the whispers respond. IYKYK.)

The Montrose has the best elevator lobby.

I love a good one.

When I arrived at the rooftop a perfect, sunny Los Angeles Labor Day weekend Friday greeted me with fantastic black & white striped poolside cabanas and towels and though the pool was small, it was totally sufficient not only to set the vibe but if you wanted to take a quick dip to cool off – which a few did – it was accessible and ready. Though that wasn’t in my thoughts on this day. I had just hoped to be able to find a beautiful spot, enjoy the LA vibe that I haven’t experienced (in this way) in quite some time, jam internally on a rooftop poolside to music and write.

This experience checked all the boxes. An impromptu away day – which really was only 3 hours – but perfect pricing for the access, great service and all the good vibes for a weekend kickoff. Thanks @resortpass for setting this lady on the right path today. 😊
